Bradenton players help Florida capture SEC title

The University of Florida men's golf team won the 2011 SEC Championship last weekend after a couple former Bradenton-based golfers buoyed the team's performance.

Arnond "Bank" Vongvanij
(Bradenton Academy) and Tommy Mou (IMG Academies) placed fifth and a tie for 21st, respectively, on the individual leaderboard at the Sea Island's Seaside Course.

Vongvanij, a senior, carded a 1-over par 211 total for the 54-hole tournament. Mou, a sophomore, posted an 8-over par 218 total.

The Gators finished at 8-over par as a team.

They also had the overall individual winner, which bolstered the club's surge toward the SEC crown at the St. Simons Island, Ga. layout.

Next up for the Gators is the NCAA Regionals in Ocala slated for May 19-21.
